Can't log in, or need to change your account email? Here's how we can help

What to try first, and what to send Anima support so we can help you back into your account.

You can't change the email address on your Anima account yourself. If you've lost access to your email, changed it, or can't log in for another reason, your GP practice or the Anima support team can help. This article explains what to do and what to send us so we can sort it out quickly.

First, try these

  1. Check which way you signed up. If you used NHS login, select Continue to NHS login. Your NHS login email and password are managed by the NHS, not Anima.

  2. Reset your password. Enter your email, select Continue with email, then Reset your password. See I've forgotten my Anima password.

  3. Check your spam or junk folder for emails from [email protected]. Links expire after 1 hour.

  4. Try other email addresses you might have used, such as an old or work email.

  5. If you see "Existing account found!", read Why does Anima say I already have an account?.

If you've changed your email address

If you use NHS login: change your email in your NHS login settings. Log in to Anima and go to Settings > Login settings, then select Click here to manage your NHS login settings. Anima uses the contact details on your NHS login, and picks up your new email the next time you log in with NHS login.

If you use an email and password: contact your GP practice and ask them to update your account email. If they can't, contact Anima support (below).

You can change your mobile number yourself in Settings > Your preferences.

What to send Anima support

To keep your account safe, we need to confirm it's really you. Please include:

  • your full name (including any middle names)

  • your date of birth

  • your NHS number

  • your GP practice name

  • the email address on your Anima account (if you know it)

  • the new email address you'd like to use, if you're changing it

  • whether you normally log in with NHS login or with an email and password

  • the exact message you see, or a screenshot

Never send us your password, or any code we've sent you. We will never ask for them.

We may need to reset your account so you can register again. If we do, your practice can still see your past requests.

Good to know

  • Each NHS number can only have one Anima account, so please don't create a new account with a new email. It will be blocked.

  • If you've moved GP practice, you don't need a new account. Log in and go to Settings > I've changed my GP practice.

  • Many practices now let you send a request without an account. If you need to contact your practice today, use the online request link on their website.

Still need help?

Contact [email protected] or use the chat on this page. For questions about your care, contact your GP practice.

If you need medical help urgently, call 999 or NHS 111. Don't wait for your login to be fixed.
